THEME: LOST

AYOBAMI AYANFEMI

Title: Gone gone gone.

What makes man a man
Is the creation,
Who makes woman a woman
Is on the palms of the curator.

The rod specially made for him
But for riches and fame got slimmed,
Burnt into the flat plate
To be eaten by same gender.

Tell me,what is your agenda
When riches and fame come
When people lay you in bed
And dig holes made by men.

The surge in men greater than yours,
Greater than who you are
Greater than who you want to be
But greediness, envy and fame
Over shadowed you.

You erected statue under your skirt
And changed your look to get
Masculine appearance,
Why??
Why must the clay be remoulded
While perfectly shaped by its moulder.

You lost your virtue and buy shame
You lost your name and buy pain,
What's left in you
Than emptied can in the desert.

You blamed the creator
And make man your conductor,
You lost what makes you a man
You lost what makes you a woman.

Chosen Star.

HUSSANI ABDULRAHIM

TITLE; DARKNESS

You shape many things in the dark,
You merge, you become darkness.
Your shadow builds a silent hut of bloody bricks.
Here, no one will touch you,
No song from a cruel voice will detest you.

You never wanted this,
You just became.
And to move your body into light
Is to remove the 'e' from 'humane';
Is to let the cruel world trample your body.
So that what'll be left of your depressed soul
Will be nothing but nothingness.

When you close your eyes,
You find your body fleeing illuminations,
Many bright things that only in the end,
Unravel their own true colours of darkness,
And reminde you, how your name's spelt differently
With a touch of sorrow and elipsis of misfortune.

Close your eyes,
And you'll know this world's never yours.
And the boy who finds rainbows in your eyes
Is only preparing to vanish into a smudgy  sea of darkness.
