Judges For League Of Wordsmiths 2017 Announced!!!


Whyke Anthology is pleased to finally unveil her judges for this year's LEAGUE OF WORDSMITHS. The judges were selected based on merit and their support towards Africanism by the committee set up for their selection. The judges consists of Three (3) Nigerians and a Ghanian.

Adjei Ageyi-Baah 

Adjei Ageyi-Baah, is an English language lecturer at University of Ghana School of Distance Learning and also the co-founder Africa Haiku Network and Poetry Foundation Ghana. He currently serves as the co-editor of the Mamba Journal, Africa’s first haiku periodical, and champions an avant-garde type of haiku dubbed “Afriku”, which seeks to project the unique sights, sounds, and settings of Africa to the world haiku community. He is a winner several international awards, with his short and long verse appearing in many international anthologies and journals. Adjei presently serves as a haiku resource person and facilitator for high schools and colleges as well run workshops for Literary events. He is the author of “Afriku” (Red Moon Press 2016), his first haiku and senryu collection, and looks forward to the publication of his 2nd collection "Tales of the Kite" in 2018.


•AKINWEMIMO IDRIS
Poet  Akinwemimo Idris is an African bard who voices from Nigeria. He is a poet, an essayist, a theorist, a playwright, an actor , a novelist and a linguist. Obafemi Awolowo University groomed his writing prowess. He had contributed to the promotion of poetry and literature as a whole immensely out of which his two written novels are part of . He is the founder of NIBSTEARS POETRY CAVE out of which nibstears poetry school and nibstears annual poetry contest are imbedded.  Due to his quality in the world of poetry, he had been chosen in many occasions as the judge for poetry contest and personal literary lecture with lot of  the younger poets. Many of his works had been published in many poetry anthology out of which  AATISH publication of 2013 is included. He got his poem published in WHO SHALL I MAKE MY WIFE, Nigerian poetry anthology by PIN and many Nigerian magazines. Most of his poetry performances in various locations in Nigeria are still and once being televised out of which Ilesha Poetry festival is one of Osun state Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) favourite clips. He had gotten his poems performed in noticeable places in Nigeria as Freedom Park Lagos featured his poetic words in the early month of the year 2017. He is a metaphysical poet and also a poet of romance. He writes on society and people in it. He is an idealist and a rationalist .



•Aderemi Yetunde Victoria
Aderemi Yetunde Victoria is a Nigerian poet with the pen name "Poet Mirabel". She's at present a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria studying English and education. Although she boarded the vehicle of poetry out of boredom and, but now, her prowess and dexterity in writing poems has grown beyond limits. Victoria is also a song writer, writing above hundred songs for different musicians. She's also a spoken words artist, performing on more than ten stages across Nigeria. She's working on her first collection of poems at present and would hit the public readers soonest. Victoria is a Nigerian by Nationality.




•ANNY J. U'DORPHIA
Anny J. u'Dorphia is a Nigerian poet published in the Red-Parrot Magazine and extensively on e-zines like the Kalahari review, allpoetry, poemhunters, I_am_not_a_silent_poet blog, southernibid's wordpress and many others. He holds the 2014 Creative Writer's Association of Nigeria, CWAN award in the poetry category and was a finalists in the highly rated 'BB10 Poetry Slam' held at University of Ibadan in April, 2015. Apart from poetry, Anny writes fiction and short stories. His stories have appeared on MyNaijaStories, Nairaland etc. He speaks Ibibio/Efik, Igbo and English.

  • THE 20 FINALIST POETS WOULD BE ANNOUNCED ON THE 16th Of November 2017 (12pm (Nigerian Time)

  • All poets who submitted their entries during the period of registration should forward a mail containing their NATIONALITY to "whykewhyke21@gmail.com" on or before 11;30pm (Nigerian Time) tomorrow (16th of November 2017)
