THEME: CULTURAL FASHIOM

BRENDA MARTHA

TITLE:CULTURAL FASHION

From animal skin loincloths
To discovering the weaving art
Diversity of cultures across the globe
Out came beautiful clothing patterns
Beading of ocean crusts into necklaces
Beautiful on the long necks of women
And then came the western influence
But they said old is gold
Though change was inevitable
Some ancient touch still remains
In the processing of fabric
And weaving to clothes
Like blossoming flowers
Out amazes the world appealing
To sojourners in our lands.
OYEKUNLE IFEOLUWA

TITLE; CULTURAL FASHION

Their dark skin makes my heart melt down my spine
as they walk with beads around their waists.
Radiating beauty under the weight of iro and buba
with headgears like rockets launched into space.
Their eyelashes are like heaven on planet Earth
crushing we men like tubers without weight.
They are the angels of yoruba tribe.
They are beauty of this modern age.

Their gap teeth are like entrance into heaven
with no keeper to man the sacred gate.
Their beauty are like divine ointment
and regalia like garments soaked in oats.
Their shoes are like chisels knocking the ground
almost drilling holes to the gates of hell.
They are the angels of yoruba tribe
They are the beauty of this modern age.

Fathers would rock their flowing Agbada
with hands raised to strike a good balance.
Beaming with smile that reveals tribal marks
with local cap that gives elegance.
Their necklaces are like chains of life
that breathe healing to cold hearts.
They are the keepers of this modern age.
They are the fathers of yoruba land.
