LEAGUE OF WORDSMITHS 2017.

          

    

INTRODUCTION

Whyke Anthology is pleased to announce to the general public that registration for this year's Poetry Contest (League Of Wordsmiths) has started. All interested poets who meet up with the application requirements are urged to register before the closure of registration.

Do you have what it takes to be the champion? are you sure of your writing dexterity? then this is the golden chance you've being waiting for; to learn, unlearn and win!!!... Don't miss it, for this year's contest promises to be better and bigger. See you there!!!

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CONTEST

1) To Promote and create awareness of African Poetry.

2) To Promote African Poets.

3) To Promote The Spirit Of Africanism And Negritude.

4) To Promote Creativity And Positive Thinking Ability in African Youths.

5) To Create Possible Aids For African Poets.

              APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1) All applying poets must be African. Resident or not.

2) All applying poets must not have participated in any poetry contest earlier organized by Whyke Anthology.

3) All members of Whyke Anthology are not allowed to contest.

4) Application is open to only poets. Any genre of literature other than poetry us considered invalid.

5) No language Nor Age barrier.

                     MODE OF APPLICATION

1) Each applicants should forward a poem that reflects on the contest theme "MY FATHER'S LAND...AFRICA" to the email address; 'whykewhyke21@gmail.com'

2) All forwarded poems should be the original work of the poets as plagiarist would be handed over to the appropriate authorities (WAP).

3) All forwarded poems might or might not have being published before.

4) All forwarded poem should be a QUATRAIN of FIVE (5) STANZAS maximum.

5) All forwarded poems and Name of the Applying poets should be in the body of the mail.

6) No SELF DESCRIPTION! Any poet's entry against this rule is invalid.

7) The subject of the forwarded mail should be 'LEAGUE OF WORDSMITHS 2017'.

8) All poems should have a title. An untitled poem is considered invalid.

9) Entrants should send not more than an entry. Poets with multiple entries would be disqualified.

10) No attachments to the mail.

11) Application runs from 11th of October 2017 to 31st of October 2017 ( 11/10/2017 - 31/10/2017).

NOTE; A MESSAGE OF CONFIRMATION IS SENT AS A REPLY TO THE APPLICANTS MAIL. EXCEPT YOU RECEIVE THIS MAIL, YOUR APPLICATION IS INVALID.

SEQUENCE OF CONTEST

STAGE ONE (1)

All interested poets are expected to submit their entries according to the guidelines stipulated above.

STAGE TWO (2)

The judges ( To Be Unveiled Later) would hence, thoroughly scrutinize then finally select a 20-man finalist which would be candidates for this year's contest. This finalists would be Announced by November 3rd 2017.

STAGE THREE (3)

The contest begins in proper by November 6th, running for 38 days with each poets duelling with prospective poets according to their schedules which wold be arranged by the organizers of the events, Whyke Anthology.

                            AWARDS

1) The first positioned poets earn for himself or herself a sum of Ten Thousand Naira Only (#10,000) with a plaque of participation.

2) The second positioned poet and the third positioned poets are also entitled to plaques of participation.

3) All 20-man finalists poems of entry (i.e Their respective poems sent during the period of registration) is to be published in the 1st Edition of Whyke Anthology's collections of poems, titled; MY FATHER'S LAND... AFRICA.
