THEME: BLACK BLOOD

HEVARDINAR INSPIRED

Title; Black blood
...
Oh Africa! Oh Africa!
How sweet my mouth speaks of you
Citizens with one blood and voice
And rivers dancing to the tune of unity

Children of different mothers
Mothers of different generations
Generations from heroic victory
It's runs in the blood

In the veins of my fathers runs blood
Blood of bravery
Bravery from slavery
In it, I was born

Oh Africa! Oh Africa!
Even in the next world,
An African I would love to be
I'm African, I'm black, I'm beautiful.

OLAWUYI BLESSING

Title; "BLACK BLOOD"

What if I was born with a black blood?
Will I ever mature beyond babyhood?
What if I was born with a black blood?
Will I feel sick every now and then?
And what if I was born with a black blood?
Will I be an unaccustomed being to the rest in the world?

What if I was born with a black blood?
Will I be a liveborn baby in coma?
What if I was born with a black blood?
Will every of my vein(s) be filled with an undivine bleakness?
And what if I was born with a black blood?
Will I be the broken being trying to cover up my shamefulness?

What if I was born with a black blood?
Will I dare to outgrow my botherations?
What if I was born with a black blood?
Will I be mastered in sins as claimed?
And what if I was born with a black blood?
Will I be known as an unredeemed soul or an unequalled blessing?

Poet: Olawuyi, Blessing Ishola.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL POETS ONCE AGAIN.

  3. I vote Poem 1.

Neither of the poems has a "wow" effect with their interpretation of the title. However, Poem 1 is convenient in the sense that it speaks of a black nation. Poem 2 was however not so clear about what it sees black blood to be.

Both poems appear like pieces that would do better on a vocal stage. Kudos bards.

I'm sure this is just warm up
