Title; Black and White
I am dark you are light.
Tire is black frame is white
'Black is evil,' you say
And white is civil right?
Black sheep, back book
Black this , black that
White smiting black without heart.
White kids eating grapevine,
Black kids killed with vinegar.
Blacks are apes, kill 'em all,
And whites are humans, leave 'em all, right?
Hearken you reeking white elements
Lacking in elementary sense,
If you say, 'black is primitive',
We'd say, 'white is lustrous translucent
Sculpture lacking blood.'
But, hey, we're both plying the wrong course.
We're both casting reeking spittle on the element that
He in heaven meticulously carved on the sixth day.
For man is not judged by the colour of his skin
But by the content of his character.
MOHAMMED SHAMSU-DEEN
Title: How Colours Relate
I have seen my people
Leach their natural pride
To buy the skin of Jackson
But he who buys bane
In the journey of skin
Shall wear the rainbow,
For colours are relations.
Let those who try to uproot
Some keys of the piano beware
Let those who hoot at the crow
Check their groins and armpits
That colours are God
Inseparable like a zebra
Interdependent like zebra crosses.
Day and night are brothers:
So gathered clouds forming night of day
Melts like a water clod in sun
And the repute of moonless night
Is the span of a scanty urine
Soiled by stains of stars.
Let's be Mandelas
To extinct the shreds of Apartheid
Out the pockets of our hearts.
