THEME: FALLEN HEROES
(In memory of Africa past warriors (leaders))
KOLAWOLE ENIFENI SAMAD
Title; Fallen Heroes (Dirge): A MONODY
Once upon a termite ate the roots,
Thee branches are broken, sigh...
Thee pulse is beaten,
Tears stream down the cheek,
Just with the thoughts of 'Tioté Cheick'.
Oh! Body, must you return to the sands?
Nelson! Oh! Nelson
What was that fearsome sound?
What a MAN-DE-LLA you were!
Death the unseen Foe!
With your pattern I was fooled,
Just when it's time to enjoy the shade tree,
All leaves, you took at the count of three.
The sun must return to set,
Never to ever rise again.
Remained curved the moon;
As it mourns the gone of the Greats.
The innocent child couldn't know,
As only its wants was to smile,
What a wicked termite death was,
It denied me the rippen Fruits
And pass them to the land of my Silent Fathers.

WAKCHIN NENGAK
Title; FALLEN HEROES
they
crumbled
down
to nought,
into & down beneath our crust after hoisting to their prime
our early crowns became cinders
of past-tensed glory
some were chopped like onions for barbecue,
or gunned by masked armors
in bouts of bloody pustch
our (s)heroes labour faded
like an erased word on a white sheet
& no body wants to be like them again
for their strive was crowned with shame
& murder by surprise.
