THEME: POVERTY

ADELEYE DARASIMI

Title: POVERTY

It is not our own will
No one wills for hunger
It is not our choices
No one wills to be poor

Why do we languish in Poverty
We are hardworking farmers
Our farms has no rest until harvest
Yet we hardly have anything to eat

Why do the rich override us?
They want our produces with little coins
We sell all we harvest for little gains
While we continue to suffer in pains.

Hardworking men are never poor they say
Yet we are more hardworking than anyone
We work tirelessly every day
Why then are we this poor?

ONI TOMIWA

Title; RIPPLES OF PENURY

I saw a vision last night
One which i'll sadly tell.
Somehere in the slums of Africa
I saw two boys, thin and pale
Feasting on remnants of bones
From an abbatoir's heap of rubbish.
They wore their own skins
And a cloak around their tiny waists
They have no flesh to call their own...
Walking skeletons on deserted roads.

A woman and feeds her three children
With rotten food and coloured water
She was housed in the corners of a silent graveyard
Where humans take turns with ghosts and rats
For the portion of the night
When everythere becomes dark.

I saw a man roaming around
Wearing tattered clothes
And miserable sandals
In search of endless nothingless,
He was struck by thunder,
He is a slave to emptiness...

Poverty has built a kingdom in our kingdom
A macrocosm of repellant tribulation.
Men now become lunatics
When they're kissed by the fiery of penury...
A kingdom is upturned,
Poverty rules.

Let the battle begin!!!
