THEME: FEMINISM

OLANIYI OLOLADE

Title: A FIGHT FOR EQUALITY

They say men are rough and tough,
Like the winds that blow from the west.
They also say men are giant and strong,
Like the rugged mountains in the east.

Bridget was brutally beaten yesterday,
Under the roof of her violent husband,
With her voice fainting like the voice of a dieing birds,
She sreamed " I'm not a slave, I'm not a slave! "

Another girl was raped by her lover,
In a dark and blue room,
She screamed "men are animals, men are not men!
Men are animals in humans' clothings"

A princess wanted to be a king,
They said she's too weak, she's a weaker vessel.
She wept.. she wished she could be a man,
She wept... wished she could be equal.

They all gathered to host a conference,
Against the society that doesn't value women,
And began to sing "we want freedom,
We want freedom, we want to be equal "

BRENDA MARTHA

TITLE; FEMINISM
Empower the girl child, the future of the tribe
The leader of the nations.
Give her education,give her opportunities
To prosper in different sectors.
She's got the ability, just like the boy child.
Let her not be shut up,in the kitchen doing dishes,
Or her young back burdened, with water jerricans,
Or bundles of firewood.
Don't marry her off at an early age,
In exchange for dowry,
Her worth is greater than the dowry.
Let her enjoy the feel of youth,
By not mutilating her genitals.
In work division, everyone has a part,
No job should go to specific gender.
She's got rights too,
Respect them, help her where she can't,
Guide her in the ways of life.
Don't take advantage of her ,
Sexually or otherwise .
Recognize the equality and humanity ,
Of both men and women ,
For a woman is the architect of the society.

Enjoy!
