THEME: gods Of Africa (Eulogy)

AYOBAMI AYANFEMI

TITLE: Awake heroes

Oh! Awake heroes
Awake from the slumbering of death
Death that caught you unaware
It taught you to be our forefathers.

Pour on us your libation of blood
For it is full of blessing,
The bed you lured us to lie
Is shining of ornaments of gold.

The sold saved slave
Are eulogising your shrine,
They are slinging words of praise
And arrmoured your grave into their courtyard.

Oh!Africans
Hail Star head that was cut off
For the rescue of the feet,
Hail the falling teeth
For the safety of the tongue.

What you cooked yesterday
Is now been eaten by us today,
Thanks for providing us the sun and its ray
And the moon that set in our night.

Hail!!!

ANIEBIET EFFIONG

TITLE; SONG FOR THE gODS

I have heard of men who were gods on earth.
I have read of men who were gods in Africa.
I have heard of men whose names cannot be forgotten.

This is for the gods of Africa,
This is for the heroes of Africa.

Let the men bang the gong,
Let the women sing the song.
Let the drummers beat the drums,
As i begin to hum.
Let the dancers begin to jump, as they twist their bodies up and down,
Till its dawn.

Tell the birds to sing along,
As the villagers shall clap along.

I see the lizards nodding,
And the antelopes jumping.

This is for the fathers of Africa,
This is for the legends of Africa.

The ones who showed us how to love,
Like our Father above.
The ones who fought for our freedom,
The ones who spoke into us wisdom.

Let us sing their names,
And speak of their fame.

Nelson Mandela, a living Legend,
A symbol of africa who fought for freedom till the end.

Martin Luther King,
The African American.
The man who told us he had a dream.

Patrice Lubumba,
A pan African Hero and a symbol of african nationalism.
A martyr of the african cause.

Chinua Achebe,
Oh! Things fall apart!
The man who wrote Africa out of captivity,
and brought to them liberation through his ink.

Muhammad Ali,
The greatest boxer of all.

Bob Marley,
The man whose songs touched the hearts and minds of the world.

Ken Saro Wiwa!
Our great activist,
A role model for the generations unborn.

Lets keep singing for the gods of Africa,
For their footprints is a blueprints for the generations of Africa.
