1) The judges decision takes 70% of the judgement while well wishes and lovers of poetry votes takes 30%.

2) Upon no circumstance must any of the above mentioned poets vote.

THEME: MASSACRE

AYOBAMI AYANFEMI

TITLE: Mourning City

Beautiful day I thought

Arrow of gods I saw

When they outnumbered Saul

And slung into Goliath head.

They didn't come to fight

They didn't come with light

They accompanied demons

And paired with darkness.

My great city built mortuaries

Instead of towers,

They buried flesh and uprooted bones.

Tears wasn't shed for the blood of my people have been sacrificed for our tears.

They were men in black

Red in eyes

Fully bearded in horns of the cow

They spared only the ruins.

Sons were left behind by their mothers

Father's strapped back their eyes

And forgot their daughters in the whipping hands of the devil.

They spared no rod

They spared no rounds

They wasted infants

And slaughtered their parents.

What a mourning state we are living in my great city.

TITLE: The Massacres

Bang!  Bang!!  Bang!!! 

the sound of guns rock the street 

like beats from a rock and roll,

body of innocent kids sent to death 

flood the street

like dead logs of wood 

and stream of blood flows on our black asphalt.

.

what could a mother do? 

cry till her tears make a ocean? 

the agony of pain burns her heart 

like paper set ablaze.

what will a man do? 

seeing his replicate brought to injustice of death 

cry,  laugh or avenge? 

.

what does a killer gets

when he turns the heart of people to well

he dug with knife?

after been brainwashed to say ALLAHU AKBAR

thinking God is a fool.

what pride does he gets? 

when he aimlessly put a full stop to the lives of innocent youths

in search of their daily bread on the street.

what could be so worthless in this era of massacre

like the life of men brought to their end

like weeds fed with herbicides.

how many kids will be orphaned?

just for the beauty of a political propaganda,

how many women will be widowed? 

how many men will be taken back to bachelorhood 

before this aimless quest is brought to justice.
