THEME: MASSACRE
ANIEBIET EFFIONG
TITLE: Reign of terror
(Prosaic- Poetry)
Boom!
The church was set ablaze again by bomb blast.
As some of its members were found running for their lives
Like a rat who escaped a trap in the bush,
While many were found helplessly dead!
The incessant bombings became rampant day by day,
With more souls sent to their early graves.
The little children were no exemption
Of victims murdered cold bloodedly.
Some washed their faces with their blood.
The death of Shagai and Jehus was so horrific.
They danced the dance of death,
To the music played by the terrorists with their guns.
The guns of the terrorists were diseased with tuberculosis,
Coughing bullets.
They both swum in the ocean of their blood.
How i managed to escape,
The loathesome massacre
Was what i couldn't fathom.
As i waddled down the street,
Famished and exhausted,
I found more corpes lying on the street.
"how doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people?
How does she become a widow?
She that was great among nation,
And princes among provinces.
How is she become a tributary!
She weepeth sore at night,
And her tears are on her cheecks,
She is in bitterness..."
My heart tore apart,
As i became the Jeremiah of my day,
Lamenting and crying.
OLAWUYI BLESSING ISHOLA
Title: "MASSACRE"
Humans all born with need(s),
Tho' guns were advocators to please their greed(s),
Leaving behind vestiges of none with conscience,
Burying majority of the people with their innocence.
War turned into a line of work,
A crime less serious than a felony at work,
People get together in city square,
To have a scene fête as they wail in square.
Many remained helpless,
For at soon time they get hit by bullets in darkness,
If not dead like deer, they get wounded
And abandoned.
Not was all day long a holy day,
For violent death seemed endless like holiday,
Lives were denied it rights,
As there were no strength to fight.
