AKUFO ADDO MEDIA BRIEFING SHOULD BE A MODEL FOR AFRICAN LEADERS
A re-occurring decimal between leadership and followership in Nigeria and Africa at large is the communication britches and gaps, and so, this explains why the current development in Ghana must be appreciated and emulated.
Nana AKUFO ADDO is being commended by his people for fulfilling is promise of meeting the media twice yearly. What strikes me from the outcome of the Ghana News Agency sampling of random opinions of the people after the encounter at the Flagstaff House, Kanda were the words of one Samuel Ackom who said he was impressed when AKUFO ADDO said he had forgotten about the 2014 world cup saga. "...the president was honest about the issue, this is what we need from our leaders. He could have lied to make people believe he was on top of issues" he said.
Africans wants to see and hear their leaders speak more often to them... Will our government see a lesson to learn? Remains more of a wish and less of a question. Africans possess good hearts, patience and still keep their sanity through, amidst physical and mental uncongenial conditions. There are persons like samuel to understand if our leaders will be honest and transparent.
In coasting home, if the communication gap between our leaders and the people is not given adequate attention, then the dangers of PERCEPTIONS becoming stronger than REALITY awaits us all.
