ANOTHER POGROM AND A POSSIBLE PROTRACTED WAR IS LOOMING IN NIGERIA.

What I heard is that vigilantes in Gboko, Benue state accosted 7 Fulani traveling to Taraba with AK-47 in the night and burnt them alive. It is hard to believe any Fulani would be traveling to Taraba with guns in the night through Benue.

I think it is a reprisal killing and the victims may have been very innocent. That they are traveling with guns may just be something to justify the killings.

The same way they said those thousands of Igbo killed in the Northern region during the 1966 pogroms were dancing, singing Ewu Na Ebe Akwa and mocking Northerners for the killing of Ahmadu Bello et al.

We need to renegotiate the terms of our union. El Rufai Committee did not recommend state constitution as part of restructuring. How will states decide how many LGAs to create, how to manage and distribute their resources or the kind of police they would have? The Committee recommended all this but didn't make room for state constitution, did they?

Another pogrom and a possible protracted war is looming in Nigeria. We need to start shouting for urgent help from the international community. This is beyond internal problems of Nigeria.

May those burnt to death in Gboko rest in peace and may the world come to our aid quickly to prevent a looming genocide!
