SAVED BY GRACE

Frightened I stood by the altar,
The altar of grace,
With my hands across my face,
All my sins I wanted to mutter.

I remember that black man in a white robe,
Patting my shoulder while on my thoughts I rode.
My sinful self I was ashamed off,
And still standing I passed off.

Millions of thoughts raced in my head,
At the sight of repentance.
To the world I stole a glance,
But vanity was all I could hear.

The judgement is near,
Yet my soul is far.
Here is my body at the altar,
But my heart isn't there.

Confused and lost,
I succumbed to confessing.
The beauty of the world I decided
To shut my eye against.

Jerking back alive
With tears covered face,
I surrendered my life
To his everlasting Grace.

I am Emmanuel
