THE PRO'S AND CON'S OF SMART GOVERNANCE.



INTRODUCTION

What if the actions and interventions of the government in the affairs of the state is executed swiftly with no iota of opposition. Or, how'll it be if governance is implemented with zero stress but maximum efficiency. Nice? Or bad? These and more are questions that should parade our minds when thoughts of implementing "Smart Governance" surfaces. For the afore asked questions are the main aims and objectives of smart governance.

According to the Oxford learners dictionary, smart governance is defined as the situation whereby the activities of governing a state, country or organization is quick and effortless yet effective. With this definition at heart, a brief journey into the world of smart governance would I take you through in the next subheadings.

NEED FOR SMART GOVERNANCE

Smart governance as a very important tool in modern government can't be bypassed as its need is optimum. Hence, some reasons smart governance is needful to this day government are highlighted below;

1) Effortless Governance: Smart governance ensures a mode of government with zero effort whereby the process of governing is done at the maximum ease and pleasure. This serves as an incentive to the government officials as stress is eliminated from their job.

2) Quick Decision Making: Decisions are made very fast at the snap of fingers in this mode of governance. Jobs such as budgets are signed swiftly at the required time and judgements are also passed quickly.

3) Growth: A state or country practicing smart governance tends to experience maximum growth. This tend to occur because the government of such state or country performs its duty at maximum rate, all thanks to smart governance.

Other than the above highlighted points, smart governance also help in reducing monotony of work, reducing delayed processes also. Theft is also reduced if smart governance are implemented correctly.

ADVERSE EFFECTS OF SMART GOVERNANCE

1) In developing countries like those in the tropical parts of Africa, smart governance tends to be used as. a device for theft. Rate of corruption amongst the government officials would appreciate hereby posing an adverse effect on the economy of such country and on the country itself at large.

2) Smart governance also when abused (over used) would lead to high rate of unemployment in such state or country.

3) Democracy would be highly abused/misused in states where smart governance is implemented.


CONCLUSION

Although, smart governance is a very wonderful and intelligent idea and concept in the process of governance, yet, it can also be a death trap to States or countries who abuses its function. Hence, smart governance should be implemented by countries under the close supervision of scholars in government and professors of economics of such countries so as not to adversely affect the government and the economy of such country or state at large.
