THEME: CULTURAL FASHION

EMMANUEL KARIBI OBUALA

Title: UNTITLED

Here, see me all enclothed
in my indigeneous fashion
looking a panorama of my
cultural sentiments
in fine ambience of kinship
with my heart firmly enshrined
in the cultivation of sown plots
of tradition. There's a virtue
glued to my emotions, where
no other can tread upon
i am all for me, and all for
these values in my heart
dearly i hold. Fashions
abounds, some borrowed,
some racial derivatives and
others innate. Some we learn
others we are born into, and
even some out of us, these
we take to heart in such ways
that we live them, proceeding
each day as these would lead
culture oft' is who we're, it is
what we are and everything
we live about. Many fashions
of it abound, to each peculiar
as are his or her inclinations
to some we're because we
share a common culture
to others we aren't because
a common culture we do not
share.

TITLE; Cultural Fashions: GONE WAS THE TIME

Gone was the time,
The era where clothings are useful,
As they were meant to covert;
To make hidden the 'Temple of God'.

Gone was the time,
When there were no trousers to SAG
And zero piercing to TAG,
The shame of then-African-woman,
Has today, become the joy of Africans.

Why has all become turned?
Why do we walk unclad and still claim clothed?

Civilization?
This can't be lied against,
As we have turned against our own way of life,
And this can't be blamed on our forebears,
Because we have forsaken the source of our fashions.
