THEME: HIDDEN TREASURES
BRENDA MARTHA
Title: HIDDEN TREASURES
Unyielding is the land that's not been tilled,
One whose potential has not been explored,
And thus is our mother land Africa.
Untapped potentials dwells here,
Young energetic minds left to waste,
In the rampant rot of unemployment,
And the kaleidoscope rise of drug abuse.
The small children roam the streets,
In search of leftovers to fill their stomach.
School girls married off at puberty,
Dimming their bright stars.
Dominance of male chauvinism in jobs
Women are for the kitchen, they say.
Out goes men and women in search
Of the riches of gold and silver
While dampening the greater treasures
Hidden among the neglect of minds.
ANIEBIET EFFIONG
TITLE; LOYAL LOVE
I have found that loyal love,
who suffered in the hands of men.
Daily she moved,
To and fro, to and fro,
Faster, faster and faster,
Peddling from edifice to edifice.
Her red linen golden gown,
Billowed in the whirlwind,
Torn and tattered like rags,
With its fragile body thrown upon the mud.
Up and down,
North and south,
East and west,
She went around.
All she found was rage,
All she found was lust,
All she found was strife,
All she found was betrayal.
Men were so scathing with her,
She was stabbed with scapel.
She was a treasure buried beyond six feet.
Today i have found her,
I shall heal all the bruises,
I shall restore unto her, all she had lost.
She is the treasure i treasure.
In my heart she shall live,
Nothing shall harm her there,
For i have built hedges and walls, Around the building of my heart.
